When it came time to order the 2020 Peterbilt 389 you see here Arlyn went straight to Clint Moore at Kansas City Peterbilt. The 389 was ordered with a 318” wheelbase (so the Double Eagle could be moved from his 359 to his 389) an X15 605 hp Cummins, an 18 speed transmission and a car hauler suspension with factory front air ride.

Throughout the 60s and 70s Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit and Mack supplied the big power engines of the time that fueled the over the road trucks. In 1968 the Allis Chalmers Company from Harvey, Illinois announced it would become a new contender to supply engines for the highway truck market.
