While at the 2018 ATHS Nationals in Lexington Kentucky Lavern Cross introduced me to Marv Bontrager, Marv started working at Double Eagle Industries just a few years after they began and gave me the honor of documenting that history through his memories and photos. We sat down with Marv over dinner and this is his story of how Double Eagle Industries got their start.

Welcome to the March, 2019 edition of LargeCarMag Online! In this issue, we have a feature on Donnie Herbster’s 2016 Kenworth W900 Icon with photos by Steve Ford and a story by Karl Anderson as well as an additional feature on Matt Neblock and his 1985 Pete 362 with photos by Steve Ford a story by Karl Anderson.
Pictured, is a 48’ 2006 Great Dane, with a 2011 Carrier reefer unit. All air and electrical hookups are underneath, keeping the area between the truck and trailer clean. The trailer also has black painted sides, and all new lights from United Pacific. At the time these pics were taken, George was using this truck as a dedicated subhauler for his current employer, Rollin R Enterprises.
On March 26th we made our annual trek to Louisville Kentucky for the Mid America Truck Show. Mother Nature must have thought we deserved a break after the previous years snowtastic weather as we enjoyed warm temperatures for the most part. The turnout of trucks in the PKY Truck Beauty competition was absolutely amazing!
Mid America Truck Show 2019 – Matt Cutts Coverage
On July 8th Spencer’s Chrome Parts and Service held their annual show. As usual, it would be hard to find another show in the country with the amount of very cool Kenworth W900A’s in attendance.
On Satuday May 12th 2018 Antrim Diesel held their annual Dyno Day and the numbers were unreal! Numerous trucks put down well over 1,000 horsepower including David Blankenship’s 1700 horsepower pull!
Dan Fritz of Hughesville, PA. owns this 2015 386 Peterbilt, and 2018 42’x96” Vanguard insulated spud van. Together this combo makes for a very clean and classy tater relocator. The Pete is a glider equipped with a series 60 Detroit, 13 speed, and 3.55s with a 245” wheelbase.
