Welcome to the October, 2019 edition of LargeCarMag Online!
From the 1982 359, that he made a needle nose and drove for 30 years, to his 1949 K100C bullnose Kenworth, and now his latest build, a 1973 Western Star 4964, Canadian Billy Baker, is no stranger to interesting truck builds that are a little different than the “in thing.”
On Saturday, June 8th, 2019 we held our 4th annual Jane Harting Cancer Benefit Truck Show and Picnic in our yard at Elite Service Inc in Denver PA.
The 9th annual Midwest Pride in your ride show this year started off with awesome weather and a convoy with several Cancer survivors riding with the different trucks in the convoy.
On Monday May 27th myself and Jimmy Rosenberger from Mini Chrome Shop packed all our stuff into a Ford Transit van and headed west for Reno Nevada for the 2019 ATHS National Convention. Being very close to two tornados along the way was exciting but not nearly as exciting as the nearly 1,000 trucks that packed into the parking lots surrounding the Grand Sierra Resort!
2019 ATHS National Convention – Rick Sousa Coverage
Way back in 2001 we moved to Spotsylvania Virginia and once getting settled it became common to be sitting at my desk and hear a big ride go by the house on Massaponix Church Road, I would spin around to check it out and almost every time it would be a truck owned by Dunkle Trucking. One of the coolest of these trucks was a bright green 1984 359 with the black “raccoon eye” paint.
I know its not that great a picture but this is to cool not to share. I caught this little window 359 at the Pilot in Ashland Virginia back in the early 80’s.
Bryan Emig stopped by our booth at the ATHS Nationals in Des Moines Iowa and shared his very cool and touching tattoo that is a tribute to his late grandfather and his 42 year trucking career.
This month’s Diesel Doodle comes to us from age 5 Keegan Nothern.
