Welcome to the April 2014 issue of LargeCarMag online! In this issue, we have show coverage from the 2014 Mid America Truck Show by Alicia Kohls, Steve Ford and Matt Cutts. We also have a feature by Alicia Kohls on the Davis Brother’s Sweet Peterbilt, and of course we have our Flashback, Riding Around, Reader’s Rides and Diesel Doodles features.
While attending Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky this year, I had the pleasure in meeting Brian and Tom Davis of Davis Brothers. While they had several top notch trucks at the show, this one’s unique details in particular caught my eye. Little did I know, hearing the story behind the Davis Brothers would forever change the way I look at their trucks. I hope you take a moment to enjoy a tale of love for trucks created by generations of the Davis family.
This year for our annual Louisville riding Around section we sent Alicia Kohls searching the parking lots surrounding the show and the Papa Johns lot to capture all the large rides. As you can see there was plenty to see!

In March, I had the opportunity to attend the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) in Louisville Kentucky. I was blown away by the caliber of show trucks and the sheer size of the expo center. There were multiple buildings, maps and even a daily newspaper issue recapping the events of previous days and providing information on the day’s events.

If you’re reading this odds are you already know what the Mid America Trucking Show is all about so I’m just going to skip straight to my thoughts on this years show. Held March 27th-29th at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition center in Louisville Kentucky, it was everything we have come to expect from Louisville.
This was a normal sight back in the 80’s when this picture was taken, in fact I’m sure the only reason I took this picture was for the Aerodyne.
Ten year old Jacob Miller sent us this very cool doodle.

Once again Berubes Truck Accessories held their annual customer appreciation BBQ on June 23rd. More than 100 trucks packed into Bow New Hampshire parking lot. Berubes holds this event every year as a way of thanking their loyal customers and friends that purchase truck parts and support them and their business.
On June 9th Rick Sousa went to the Brockton Fairground in Brockton Massachusetts for the 2013 Massachusetts Diesel Truck Show. Over 200 trucks flooded the fairground and nearly $13,000 was raised for Make A Wish!
The 2013 Wheel Jam Truck Show was held May 31st-June 2nd. Rob Murray made the trip to Huron South Dakota to cover all the action for LargeCarMag. With 147 trucks on hand Rob had his hands full but as you can see he did a great job.
This year the American Truck Historical Society National Truck Show was held at the Yakima Valley Sun Dome in Yakima, WA. It was great to have such a short drive to get to the ATHS National Truck Show. We managed to get there in about 5 hours from home.
The trucks started rolling in on Wednesday afternoon and even these early trucks were filling up the space. Trucks kept pulling into the show well into Saturday afternoon. But the time Saturday afternoon was done, there were well over 800 trucks registered at the National Truck Show.
